What is SEO & why is it Important
If you want to be found via Google, then SEO is what you need to apply.
Wikipedia defines Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as:
the process of affecting the online visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural”, “organic”, or “earned” results.
In other words, SEO is the techniques, strategies, and tactics that you would use to ensure that your website’s content pages rank as high as possible on the search engine result pages (SERPs). You cannot have a valuable presence online if you do not work on improving your search engine visibility. You cannot improve your search engine visibility without using SEO.
Search Engine Optimization is a wide variety of tactics that can be applied simultaneously. The aim is to trigger the algorithms in a way that they favor your content instead of your competitors. These simultaneous tactics can be divided into two main aspects: On-page SEO and Off-Page SEO.

What is On-Page SEO?
Everything that you do on the backend of your website is technically a form of on-page optimization. If you make any changes to your current blog content, code, and/or design, with the intent to improve your SERP rankings, you are doing on-page SEO.
This includes but not limited to:
- Updating and/deleting old content
- Creating new content pieces (long and short form)
- Optimizing image sizes for speed
- Optimizing content with newly discovered keywords
- Creating shorter URLs
- Removing unnecessary code
- Interlinking your content
- Improving website design
- and improving writing style (copywriting)
There is more to on-page SEO, but this is the gist of it.
What is Off-Page SEO?
Everything that you do outside of your website is considered off-page SEO. Unfortunately, most of off-page SEO strategies are beyond your control, which makes this task relatively harder than on-page optimization. In fact, it is probably the reason why most search engines rely on external factors to determine the quality of your website.
Often, you will off-page SEO used interchangeably with Linkbuilding. However, that is not all it means. Off-page SEO includes but is not limited to:
- Linkbuilding strategies
- Social media management
- Content marketing techniques
- and prospecting and outreach

Why is SEO Important to Your Business?
I have answered this questions twice above, but it is important to reiterate it again.
